Job Description
This is the entry level of Engineering involving the design of systems, utilities, and facilities, and roads. An employee in this class applies established engineering principles to design problems; work assignments may involve mechanical, electric, electronic, structural, hydraulic, Civil, and/or comparable systems and will be of increasing perplexity and responsibility commensurate with the employee demonstrative mastery of engineering principles. The employee must study engineering literature and keep abreast of engineering developments. Supervision is received from a more senior Engineer or one assigned as project Engineer. Work is evaluated on the basis of the employee’s demonstrated performance, ability to apply previously gained knowledge to present problems and the ability to meet deadlines and to work within existing administrative policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a college or university approved by the Engineering Council for Professional Development; and/or approved by the Maryland State Board of Registration and Professional Engineers and land surveyors. Engineer in Training Certificate is desirable. (A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.) Possession of a valid Driver's License and eligibility for coverage under the County’s motor vehicle insurance policy.
