A strong domestic manufacturing sector is a major contributor to the United States predominance in today’s global environment. Advanced manufacturing plays a strong role in the national and international economies as well as an important role in the country’s national security needs. A strong work force, the capability to meet security requirements and the development of real estate and education infrastructure has readied Allegany County to meet the needs of American manufacturing. This effort includes the new Barton Business Park for Advanced Manufacturing, a real estate development dedicated to this industry sector. The value of this new park is complemented by the educational infrastructure at Frostburg State University, Allegany College of Maryland and the Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Manufacturing.
